Victor Zhao
His research focuses on designing AI-based grading and feedback systems to support student learning. His work involves evaluating the systems' technical capabilities, and studying how students and instructors perceive, interact with, and use these systems, with the goal of developing AI-supported feedback that is timely, scalable, fair, and educationally meaningful. Yuxuan Chen
Yuxuan is a PhD student as of Fall 2026, with research interests at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction and AI in education. His work explores the quality and pedagogical usefulness of AI-generated erroneous examples in computing education. João Alfredo Lamy
João joined the MCS program as of Fall 2026. His research focuses on gathering data on real-world handwritten math notes and text samples to evaluate AI-based automatic graders. He is also analyzing the impact that new methods of conducting calculus classes have on student learning.

Jake joined the MS CS program in Fall 2024. His main research interests involve building reliable and explainable AI systems to better assist students and simplify course development. First position: Researcher at LLNL.
Kangyu Feng
Kangyu is an MCS student as of Fall 2024. His research focuses on improving the learning experience in introductory computer science courses tailored for engineering students from non-CS backgrounds. Dedicated to enhancing online learning, Kangyu is also exploring innovative assessment tools for introductory courses in disciplines beyond computer science, with a focus on Calculus courses.
